chaosbean's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bombers are great I am listening Bombers’ new EP The Basement Tapes and the only complaint I have is that it is too short. I like all the songs; in less then a week I know the words to them. I said new; I’m not entirely sure its new, as much as it is recently available to me for purchase, as their prior drummer is on it. Either way, I love it. If you have similar taste in music you will also enjoy it. However, if you live with me you are probably growing weary of the constant playing of the same nine songs. Can’t say I care. I got the CD at their show in Faux Cincinnati, KY. I felt bad for them because if you are from the East Coast you will experience the massive suck that is Kentucky. We aren’t even East Coast people, we are New Yorkers. They came with Anthony from Bayside and the guys from Punchline. I really didn’t like the first band or Punchline too much. Punchline was good, at least. I just wasn’t feeling it. Bombers were fucking awesome and Anthony was great too. For some reason at the show I was feeling stupidly shy . It took me a long time to get warmed up, when normally I don’t do awkward and shy. Oh, but I did on Tuesday. I haven’t shaken in fright since the last Haunted House. At least it was fucking cold, and everyone thought I was shivering. No, I was trying to hold back from puking. Oh well. Eventually, I was cool again. I seriously had issues. I had a great night, and AT, Kate and Sam heard all about it. And, Chad would hear about the Bayside bits and pieces but he changed his phone number, so he is out of luck for now. I’ll give the rest of you a short overview. The long version of the story takes over a hour on the phone, and typing it make my hands tired. AT got text messages all night. I love text messaging, you should add me to your list. I had the best night in years that night, and I got an epic hug. John and Sean are fucking awesome. I didn’t meet the rest of the band, apparentally they are too cool for Cincinnasti/the whole acoustic tour. ;-) I got a new tote bag, not that there was anything wrong with my old one, except that mine is red and the new one was black, so I had to have it. There was also an epic hug. I don’t want to sound like a tool, so that’s why this is disjointed, I keep deleting the play by play. Bombers’ set was awesome, I honestly did not know what to expect from an acoustic show. I assumed it would be great, but I wasn’t sure if it would have the same verve. It was different, but awesome. They played my favorite Thin Lizzy song, not so acoustically but very cool. They were great. I could watch them play every night and never get bored. They are hysterical and they made me laugh too much. Even if I feel cheated out of mandolin jokes. John is particularly awesome, because when I complained about not being able to see he didn’t make a short joke and expect me to deal. He told me to go stand on the side of the stage. I thought he was speaking of the side of the stage where the audience was, and I still wouldn’t do it, cause I didn’t think I would be able to. Next thing I know he’s talking to Anthony in between songs asking him if I could stand on stage and watch cause I was too short to see. ? It was sort of embarrassing, but it was fucking AWESOME to watch the show on stage, and luckily John stayed there with me for a while so I felt much better about being there. (Oh, hell, I just liked watching Anthony with him.) It was a great night. And, anyone who can still be attractive while playing mandolin pretty much is amazing.
Bayside fans worship Anthony as though he is the son of god come specifically to save them, not just their souls but also their lives from the misery that pervades their provincial lives. He’s pretty awesome though, he sang awesome songs, explained why he wouldn’t sing a song nicely when telling the person to fuck off would have been equally appropriate. This blog was not supposed to be two pages of how awesome the Bombers’ show was. But, This paragraph is tying up page three. The rest of my week was lackluster, and work filled. I went to Indy for my photography job, and my arm and neck muscles are sore from taking pictures for 30 hours over two days. I slept well, and got to sit in the hotel hot tub. Life is good. P.S. The hug was amazing. 12:05 a.m. - Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
